Often, I have asked myself,
Am I where I am supposed to be?
Am I in the right career?
The right relationship?
The right landscape?
We worry about settling.
Settling is purported to be the great sin
according to the influencers.
Yet settle we must,
lest we become paralysed with indecision,
spend our lives suspended without commitment.
I do not ask those questions any longer.
They can induce anxiety,
a fear that I am wasting my life.
But it isn’t so.
I realize now that I am certainly in the right landscape,
the right part of the world, in just the right community,
with just the right relationships, and I had just the right career
to enjoy a contented life.
I have settled here, finally, in this valley, this lifestyle,
and have always been right where I was supposed to be,
right from the beginning,
as the protagonist in this saga that is my life.
