13 Possible Responses to the Question “What are You Reading?”

I read quite a bit, probably close to 130 books per year.  My friends often inquire as to my current reading material, but my answers sometimes seem to bore them.  So, I created a handful of silly answers I could use in a pinch.

What are you reading, Dave?

  • I’m reading a book about how butter is made.  I’ve written lots of notes in the margarines.
  • I’m reading a book about clouds.  It’s very uplifting.
  • I just read a book about the history of chairs.  I finished it in one sitting.
  • I’ve been reading about the servants of medieval knights.  It’s a real page turner.
  • I’ve been reading about the different human organs.  The appendix was quite interesting.
  • I’ve been listening to the audio book, How to Be a Mime
  • I’ve been leafing through a book about trees.
  • I’ve been reading about elephants.  It’s in a large-print format.
  • I’ve been reading about the history of British corporations.  I have the limited edition.
  • I’ve been reading a book about how money is produced.  It’s in mint condition.
  • I’m reading a book about endangered species.  I picked it up in the rare book section.
  • I’m reading an interesting book about how to remain anonymous.  It was signed by the author.
  • I’m reading about the history of pathology.  I have the uncut version.
