We are all different,
exceptional in our own way,
like clouds and snowflakes,
no two alike.
Yet we recognize them collectively
as clouds and snowflakes.
Just like people,
no two alike,
but each recognized as a person.
Why try to be the same as everyone else,
or even the same as anyone else?
Yes, go learn from other people,
those models of good character,
develop their best virtues in yourself.
Still, you will find yourself to be different.
Though your teachers of virtue may have courage,
your courage will differ.
You will gain wisdom over time,
but different wisdom than those
you admire for wisdom,
because your experiences will be different.
Do not fear being thought odd or quirky or different.
Really, we would all be considered eccentric
if we were loaded with money!
Those with faces that fit into the normal crowd
are only wearing masks, hiding their true selves.
They have fear, some of them rightly so,
if violence is the risk of their uniqueness.
But for most, the fear is based on false evidence.
Embrace your uniqueness!
Do not worry that others
may not like you despite your gifts.
They are not part of your tribe.
When you embrace your uniqueness,
your people will show up.
