One Day

One day,
everything I own will decay,
or shatter,
or burn.

Every tree I see in the forest
will eventually fall.
Every path I walk
will eventually be overgrown.

Even the mountain I see outside my home
will eventually erode away,
although long after my home does.

Everyone I know will be gone.

One day,
my time will also come to an end,
my body eventually breaking down
into the seven billion billion billion atoms
that comprise it,
to return to the stars
from where they originated.
