Early Morning Christiansborg Palace

To wander aimlessly in a new city,
Copenhagen in the morning,
with just a few cyclists and wanderers about,
finding myself at the Christiansborg Palace,
suddenly overcome with the beauty of
of distant music.

To find myself inside the gate
at the base of the Palace Tower,
a pianist rehearsing for a concert,
that a human could pull such melody
from an instrument,
and the voice of a goddess,
me floating on a cloud,
captivated by her sound,
lost in space, time.
Lost in her magic.

Finding that the gate
had been closed behind me,
that I wasn’t supposed to be there,
but that I was there anyway,
by chance,
by the greatest of fortune,
finally slipping out of the courtyard,
unseen by anyone caught up in her music.
