Bay of Fundy’s Tidal Bore

I am introduced to the tidal bore by a trail angel,
who is so enthusiastic about it,
he can’t wait to show it to me.  He consults
his tidal table, and when the time is right
on this particular evening, he takes me outside
to watch the tidal bore pass along the river
near his property.  I watch in wonder this event,
where the wave of the river, two feet high at least,
seems to reverse from the bay to river source,
caused by the tide coming in and pushing up the river
against the current.  The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides
in the world, so the event is dramatic.  I am enthralled.
I am told that surfers claimed a distance world record
by surfing one of these tidal bores.  My host is correct
to be excited, infectiously so, by this rare phenomenon
that slithers past his property twice per day,
with beauty and mystique.
